Travel far and light with the Fairview Family, designed to keep up with fast-moving globetrotters exploring new and exciting places. Despite minimal weights, these women's specific, full-featured packs adopt serious backpacking features from our more technical packs—like fine-tunable torso adjustments, load-lifting LightWire frames and breathable harnesses/hipbelts—blended with practical travel functionality.
Internal organization has been optimized for travel purposes and rugged compressions straps keep your carry tight and stable whether you're bringing your whole kit along or slimming down for excursions. The Fairview 55 comes with a fully detachable dayback that gives you ultimate flexibility with your travels. Plus, it meets most domestic carry-on requirements with the main pack overhead and daypack as your personal item for far-flung adventures.
This measurement starts at the iliac crest, which is the top of your hipbone on the side of your body that acts like a shelf. From this point, measure to the C7 vertebra, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down. Reference the torso length below to match the correct pack size.
Osprey Xenith, Xena, Aether, Ariel, Atmos and Aura packs offer interchangeable shoulder harnesses. Harness sizing usually corresponds to pack size. A properly fit harness should terminate 2" to 3" beneath the armpit when at the proper torso length. The webbing should not touch the side of the body below the padding.
True function and comfort along with style. We have over 20 years of experience designing women's packs.
The pack's shape is patterned to be more narrow and with added depth in the right places. This allows greater freedom of movement and increases stabilization by lowering the position of the load to a more optimal center of gravity. As a result, the load is more proportionately supported on the hips and along the structure of the back.
The shoulder harness is designed with thoughtful angle changes and varying padding thickness to create an anatomical fit for a woman's neck, shoulders and chest. This is balanced with optimizing where the tension from the pack's load is carried. For women, our sternum strap is a key piece in equalizing the pressure across the shoulder harness. The padding used is also specific in order to be more comfortable when carrying a heavy load.
The hipbelt is designed with thoughtful angle changes and varying padding thickness to create an anatomical fit. The hipbelt is also narrower in height for better comfort so it doesn't dig into the ribs or upper thighs when scrambling or climbing. Most importantly, women's hips are more conically shaped with a larger difference between the waist and hip measurements. We sculpt and angle our hipbelts accordingly for comfortable load transfer and optimal support. Again, the padding used is also specific in order to be more comfortable when carrying a heavy load.
Osprey Xenith, Xena, Aether, Ariel and Variant series packs offer interchangeable hipbelts. To determine hipbelt size, measure around the hips, at the iliac crest, not the waist. The padded portion should wrap well around the hips, leaving a gap of 3" to 6" between the tips of both hip pads when securely tightened.

Returned this. Too complicated for my needs. Perfectly good and high quality but not for me.

The design is awkward. No instructions come with it, so just try to remember how to attach the backpack. I think this could pack several says of clothes in summer - much less in winter. It works OK, just not overwhelmed for the price.

This strange little backpack/luggage is just right for my upcoming trips. On the bigger pack, I can tuck all the things I need to bring, and in the smaller pack I can take all my day trip essentials like hat and sunscreen, glasses and water bottle. Lots of room for everything without needing to carry it all everywhere.

I purchased this item based on what I read about it online. It seemed to be a perfect fit for my needs. Now that I have it, I still think it is a good fit for the use I plan. I will admit up front that I am new to using back pack and this one is filled with wonderful features. However, I wish it had come with a detailed users guide on what all the features could be used for and how it all goes back together once taken apart without noticing the details. I have looked online for help but the videos are quick and assume the viewer is an avid back packer. I'm not.
