Sage Kotsenburg s’est associé à notre équipe de conception et d’ingénierie produit avec l’idée de créer une nouvelle planche pensée pour évoluer sur des terrains techniques, boisés et recouverts d’une neige légère et profonde. Le concept était de pouvoir « pivoter » et « libérer » l'arrière librement pour permettre au rider de suivre les contours naturels du terrain devant lui. L'équipe s'est mise au travail sur les logiciels de conception (c'est-à-dire des logiciels très coûteux), a produit le prototype n° 1… et nous nous sommes lancés dans l'aventure qui allait devenir le Sky Pilot.
Après avoir multiplié les itérations de shapes, testé différentes constructions de fibre de verre et affiné le dosage des renforts carbone, nous avons trouvé le bon équilibre et commencé à façonner l’outil idéal pour répondre à cet objectif. Le Sky Pilot est construit autour d'une empreinte légèrement plus large que la normale et présente un flex moyen « juste au milieu ». Il arbore le contour 3D du K2 au bout et à la queue, ce qui permet de retirer les points de contact de la neige vers le haut et d'obtenir la « pivotabilité » recherchée par Sage dans la neige plus épaisse.
Cette forme « cuillère » au niveau de la spatule et du talon fonctionne en parfaite harmonie avec notre nouveau Carbon Y-Beam : elle apporte plus de pop et de stabilité à l’arrière tout en transférant l’énergie vers les points de contact à l’avant. Résultat : vous bénéficiez de la stabilité et de l’accroche souhaitées, sans rigidité torsionnelle excessive.
Convaincus que tout le monde devrait pouvoir découvrir à quel point les montagnes sont incroyables, le Sky Pilot a été conçu avec une approche tout genre — avec des tailles adaptées, des profils de flex et des largeurs au patin pour convenir à des pieds plus petits. Le Sky Pilot commence à 148 et va jusqu'à 163. Pour une expérience optimale, réduisez de 3 à 5 cm la longueur normale de votre snowboard grâce à VolumeShift™.
Wax Infused Sintered 4001 Base

3D Base Contour
3mm of 3D contour (spoon) that gradually blends from the running surface deflects soft snow, eases turn initiation, and remains predictable on hardpack.
S1 Core
The smooth-flexing cousin to our A1 core, our S1 Core is designed to be damp underfoot and stronger than hell. Constructed from Bamboo, Aspen, and Paulownia, the S1 Core let’s each wood do what it’s best for. Tip-to-tail Bamboo stringers add snap, durability, and damping underfoot and are balanced out by lightweight Paulownia in the midbody, tip, and tail help to reduce swingweight. Underfoot, Aspen and Bamboo are placed at 30 ° angles to increase strength, supercharge the edge-to-edge response, and increase the pressure distribution along the edge.
Triax Fiberglass
A glass laminate with diagonal layers that adds torsional stiffness for increased stability and improved edge hold. The fibers three layers are woven at 45°, 45°, and 0°. This makes for a more responsive ride longitudinally and torsionally.
Carbon Y Beam™
Adding snap and stability in the tail, and sending energy to the contact points in the nose - this means that you’ll get the stability and edge pressure that you want, without the unnecessary torsional rigidity.
Hybritech™ Construction
Backed by years of rigorous testing, Hybritech™ is the lightest weight, most durable snowboard construction on the market. Removing all excess sidewall material in the tip and tail and adding a 3D capped edge to increase the bond strength of the fiberglass and decrease the swing weight of the board is what makes Hybritech™ so revolutionary.
Volume Shift™
We reduce swing weight and toe/heel drag by shifting surface area from the tip and tail to the waist of the snowboard. Downsize from 4-10 cm from your usual snowboard length.
