For icy, dense, packed New England snow these shoes are excellent. Superb traction up, down, and side slope. Essentially a 22" crampon! Very durable and well-made; my wife has owned and used an original pair for over 20 years. The three silicon binding straps are easy to use and adjust even with mittens on; no need to over tighten these, just snug them up on one's boot. And the bindings fold down flat, allowing the shoes to nest together compactly when carried on a pack or in a pack basket. Can't say that about the bulky and complicated plastic bindings that come on other brands' shoes. I am 175lbs, normally carry a small day pack, and use these on dense snowpack. Have never felt the need of the extensions which, in my mind, would add extra weight and throw off the balance of these shoes. My only nit to pick is that they are rather loud on crunchy snow. The hard plastic frames seem to amplify the noise, not unlike a drumhead. If one intends to use these for some activity that requires a degree of stealth then, traditional wooden frame shoes are the way to go.

My wife and I have used MSR snowshoes since we came to Maine 25 years ago. We have tried other brands but nothing comes up to the comfort and reliability of MSR. They are a must have where we live for walking our dog in winter. I myself use them for winter hiking in the White Mountains. They have served me well for the Presidential Traverse and all the other 4000 footers in Maine, NH and VT.

Just broke trail for 5 miles in new snow. Love them! Great traction and balance. Easy to put on and secure.

I am very unimpressed with these snowshoes. Halfway into a 3 mile hike on groomed trails, one binding completely broke off the frame. It became loose, and then totally broke off soon after...rendering the snowshoes(and the evo tails I paid for) completely useless. I expected much more for the price, and will be sure to avoid MSR products in the future.

Comfortable, and fun! Straps are sometimes a bit tricky, but not a deal breaker.

They come set on the small setting on the front strap. Watch a YouTube video to learn how to convert them to large for larger boots. Once set I love the ease of on/off. Work great, nice and light.

Like the shoeshoes, they seem like they will work out good.

I was looking for new snow shoes with easy bindings. While I'm sure these are great, the bindings on these shoes were hard plastic and just didn't work for me. I returned them and bought LL Bean winter walkers.

I just received these- had ordered them in December. I have an old pair of MSRs that are all plastic which I have loved but beat up, and have difficult straps. These have this cool looking binding system so I ordered them without studying the specs. But they have a metal frame which makes them a lot heavier. And LLBean only has the 25 inch which is really too long except in deep soft snow. 22inch is long enough for my part of the world. So these are going back, with a lot of disappointment.

I'm new to snowshoeing and have only been able to use them four times in 8-12" of snow around my neighborhood, trails, and across golf courses. Easy enough to strap on. No problems with keeping them on my feet while I was out. Easy to take off and clear snow off when finished. These did not come with poles. I usually don't use poles but nice to have for balance when maneuvering in steep areas. Very satisfied with quality and price.
