Absolutely a great addition to travel, camp and survival. I earned enough L.L. bean points to cover the cost and it was well spent. I used this the following day when I arrived late in Mexico and didn't have to worry about drinking the tap water. Cool. When I got state side I went for a weekend hiking trip where the bottle came in clutch being able to fill up with relatively clear pond water and my friends didn't have to pack all their bulky water bladders and filters.

The is the second GEOPRESS that I have purchased. The first was for my son and we have used it multiple times with excellent results. It is fast, it's easy and it beats the old pump style from years ago (also purchased from LL Bean). This one will be used shorty on a 4-day section hike on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.

This thing is great! I spent a weekend in the Maine wilderness with lake and stream water as my only source. Didn't get sick at all. It really just takes seconds and is way more convenient than gravity filters or pump action filters. One thing I wish I would have done was to bring an extra nalgene bottle along so I could pump and pour, then pump again. It would have been less trips to the water to refill. I had a friend came along with the smaller Ultrapress and we would both recommend mine as far as getting more water per pump, but the Ultrapress will fit in any cup holder while the Geopress will only fit in bigger ones.

I'm 56 and have plenty of hiking and adventuring left in me... but my hands can no longer grip tightly. To say that it is impossible to separate the bottle section from the collection section, by oneself, is not an exaggeration. I have to ask one of my teens to hold the bottom section while I pull on the other, and even then, we both have to use a lot of effort. My 15 yr old, very strong son cannot do this on his own. I can also barely get the filter off the bottom of the bottle to clean and dry that section. Sure, the water tastes great after being filtered. But you can't travel alone. It ended up being such a hassle that I reverted to buying bottled water by the end of our trip. I'm not sure how old or strong you have to be to enjoy one of these.

This model is built very well and sturdy! . I anticipate this will last many years with its removable/replaceable filter. This unit can make 26 oz of water in just 8 seconds! Easy to use with no pumps, bags hoses or shiphons.
