In 1988 Powell-Peralta ran an "Artist Wanted" advertisement in TWS and Thrasher. The contest "winner" would get a job in the Powell-Peralta art department in Santa Barbara. The artist selected was Sean Cliver, mainly because his illustration style closely resembled VCJ's. Cliver's first deck design, the Barbee Ragdoll, was a departure from the traditional VCJ look, but when it came time to update the Caballero dragon, Sean emulated the master.
At some point later, someone dubbed the graphic Cab "Ban This" Dragon since it was prominently featured in that video (think slow-motion sequence). Powell-Peralta re-issue decks are close reproductions of their 1980’s counterparts, featuring the original top and bottom graphics, shape and concave. Made with our partner in Mexico. Materials include U.S. hard rock maple and glue that meets our specifications, warranted against delamination for their useful life. Shape and graphics created in Santa Barbara, CA.

*The dip-dyed top veneer on this deck is one of a kind. Because of natural variations in the wood grain and dyed veneers, the color and pattern may differ slightly from the image shown.
*If you don’t plan on skating this deck, please handle carefully when removing from the packaging. The ink/foil adhesion is delicate and can be easily scratched.
