I recently bought this tent to do some mild winter camping with my 70 lb. dog; we tested the tent out this past weekend for the first time in 20 degree weather and it performed marvelously. Though completely frozen at night, the tent stayed dry and didn't sweat. The interior height is quite nice, there are ample storage pockets and the light-dispersing pockets for headlamps are a nice touch. The tent is well ventilated with zippers on all the doors and windows that can be adjusted to increase or decrease airflow- we did not experience any condensation when the tent was completely zipped up overnight. The bathtub floor comes up high on the tent walls, and is not taut which some may dislike but I find to be ideal whenever camping with rowdy dogs or tentmates. The windows and mesh areas are well placed and I can see this tent staying nice and cool in the summertime in addition to being a warm, insulated winter tent. I have very few complaints and though I recommend the Kunai to avid backpackers and adventure enthusiasts- I would NOT recommend this tent for car camping due to the compact size and seemingly fragile materials (not flame retardant, low denier fabric, door and windows are easily stepped on). The door is very loose so you must use both hands to unzip fully. As with most lightweight backpacking tents, the fabric is VERY thin (like 30D on the body and 15D on the fly) and I'm certain puppy claws would rip this to shreds. I used the Kunai footprint and put down a waterproof fabric shower curtain on the inside of the floor and the floor stayed dry and intact with no marking. The doorway is very low and the somewhat awkward crosspole means you basically have to crawl in and out of the tent, which I didn't mind being only 5'6'' but entry/exiting may be much more difficult for larger folks. Also not the biggest fan of the grommet design for securing the poles to the tent floor/footprint as I couldn't secure one side and the lack of snaps or clasps basically mandates the tent be on perfectly level ground or else you risk your pole popping out on one side or more. Overall I would give the Kunai a 4.5/5. It's so lightweight that I feel the fabric density could be improved and it would still easily be half the weight (or less) than other 4 season tents. I'm very careful while entering/exiting and still stepped on the door and vestible fly multiple times due to the low, cumbersome entryway and could foresee this causing tears or other damage later on. Also, I

I took my new Kunai out into the big snow storm yesterday in PA and it did very well. I was impressed with the snow shedding ability and the ability of the tent to handle the weight of the snow piling up on the brow and around the tent. That brings me to the first minor complaint, the brow area gathers a lot of snow before shedding, if it sheds at all. Sometimes I had to push it off. This compresses down on the gear in the gear loft. If Nemo could find a way to adjust the angle a bit to prevent this pile up, it would be pretty close to perfect. When it did shed, the snow landed on the vestibule and started to push it it. However, with proper snow management (getting out and shoveling it away from time to time), this wouldn't be a problem. I did get quite a bit of condensation but that's because I had the tent sealed up to test the heat retaining capabilities and it maintained the interior temperature above freezing with outside temps down to 20F. I was pleased with this. Despite the condensation, it didn't rain on me and the tent did not allow any water in from the snow resting against the walls. Minor complaint 2 is the fact that for 500 dollars, they send you only 6 stakes. You need 10 minimum for the provided guy outs, with 12 being ideal by adding two more guy outs on the sides. Guying out the sides would help a lot with ventilation and snow shedding. However, I would expect a tent manufacturer to provide enough stakes for the guy outs they provide and that's 10. Why cheap out here? I assure you that if it would cost 520 instead of 500 to get all the stakes, everyone buying this tent would pay it. This alone knocks off a star. All in all it's a great tent at a great weight. Hard to believe it's this bomber for only 4 pounds. A lot of great gear loops and stash pockets inside for keeping things organized. I was able to hang all of my wet gear out of the way.

Love this tent. It's light and packs down super small. Surprisingly sturdy for how lightweight it is; has no problem standing up to tough storms. Quick and easy to set up. Lots of clever, convenient features. It's pretty tight for 2 people, but it packs down so small and light that I pretty much always just bring it as a roomy 1 person tent for myself. The door is pretty low and the vestibule is not that big, but that's ok. It can be difficult to position the reinforced ares of the fly onto the cross pole.

I actually love that tent, it would have been even my favourite tent of all time! But unfortunately this is not made for bad a weather conditions. I mean yes it is, if you set it up before it's no problem. But if you have strong wind + rain, the inner tent will get wet a lot while setting up. I only need 2 min and 18 seconds until the rain fly is on, but in heavy rain that's too long and you need to sleep in a very wet tent with even more dropping water over the time as the inner tent fabric is wet everywhere. It would be perfect. In good weather this tent is awesome though.

I bought this tent in Feb/Mar of 2020. I have taken it into the backcountry of CO as well as a week long backpacking trip through the Wind River Range of WY where on the second to last day we got hit with 2 ft of snow and 60+ mph winds. This tent is bomber! The double walled tent kept snow out and the poles stayed together during the wind storm when I thought everything was gonna blow away. If you enjoy backpacking during the winter, this tent will not let you down! I have a hornet 1p for summer and fall. Nemo is my go to for tents because of constructions and warranty! Best tents out!!

I have used this tent now multiple times in extreme Canadian winters with success. Easy to setup, small size and pack weight to comparable other tents in this space. Breathable - no real issues with condensation, a bit but much less than others I have used. great as a solo, might be a bit tight with 2 - take someone you really like ;-). Last outing was with heavy wet snow (over 20 cm) and strong winds (over 70km/h) and was quite stable using the additional 4 guywires connected to the tent. Love that there are small holes in the fly to push these guy wires through if needed, if not they stay hidden between the tent/fly. Lots of internal pockets and tons of hooks inside. Large vestibule has held all my winter gear including snowshoes. Would highly recommend the accompanying footprint to make your life easier. Best 4-season tent IMO on the market today without going extreme on weight. kept this old man comfortable in the extremes ;-)

I never expected for a tent to be this great. The ease of use and durability for as light as this tent is is absolutely unbelievable. I can set it up in about 3 minutes, i can take it down in about the same time, and it has never failed me after dozens of excursions in every type of weather and conditions. The frame of the tent allows for stability and extra room around where the walls meet the floor, and ample headroom to move around comfortably. I'm about 5'11" and is just big enough for me to fit, but anybody taller might have a tight fit. For a 4 season tent it is quite breathable with proper venting during summer months, and stays warm and weathertight when it gets "variable". As usual the 2 person tent is really sized for one plus gear, and might be enough for 2 smaller people or a couple. No complaints here as it easily does what i need for solo adventures with whatever gear i have with me. The fly is lightweight and very durable, and the pass-through for attached guy lines makes stability and function during inclement weather unparalleled. An added bonus is the ability to set up the fly first with the tent poles in bad weather, then set the rest up after the fact. It's a little harder than the standard method, but it is a nice option when it's called for. NEMO knocked this one out of the park.

I purchased this tent a week ago and made a dry run with my pad and bag, There was only about 16 inches left for another person! I guess in an emergency, two could squeeze in! Found the fly fiddly to install. Don't know how it would go in a torrential downpour! As others have said, a 3 person version would be great for two! I am no novice when it comes to tents and have had many over 50 years of canoeing and none was as light! My lightest tent is 8.5 lbs.

Really wanted to like this tent but had to pass because it's too short. Don't understand why tent makers understand this

I've had this tent since fall of 2018, and used it many times. Primary use it for solo trips, or with a dog as company. I fit into it comfortably, with my pack inside it beside my sleeping pad. The vestibule is on the smaller side for cooking, but works great to protect wet gear from the elements at night. The internal guidelines worked great to secure it against heavy winds in remote Alaskan and Canadian wilderness. Reliable tent for winter camping in Colorado's winter, with built in vents to prevent condensation build up. The best part is that it packs down really well to save space in a pack. I would recommend this tent to the solo traveler or the weight conscious two person teams.
